History: temporary ferry landing stages
The traffic stop on the Hollandse Brug near Muiden in 2007 was caused by structural problems with the bridge. Starting April 27, 2007, the bridge was closed to freight traffic, and this closure lasted until July 7, 2008. The reason for this measure was that inspections revealed the bridge was no longer safe enough for heavy traffic due to cracking in the concrete bridge deck.
In 2007, Janson Bridging was asked to help devise a temporary ferry service at the Hollandse Brug. This was to provide a relatively short crossing or detour route for agricultural traffic and (moped) cyclists.
To offer these groups an alternative route across the Gooimeer, a ferry was deployed. This ferry service required temporary landing stages on both sides of the water, where the ferry ramp could dock.
Janson Bridging, in collaboration with Hakkers Werkendam, provided two mooring piers, with the final section of each adapted to fluctuating water levels using a hinged construction.
